A 12 year old, ADHD and dyslexic kid who is the son of one of the Greek gods sounds kind of fun. It’s set in modern day New York? Yes, please. What? He’s been accused of stealing Zeuse’s Master Bolt, the most powerful weapon in existence? So this means the gods are real? This also means the heroes and villains and monsters from all the stories of old are real too? Dang. Sign me up. Tridents and satyrs and owls, oh my.
Topher’s Thoughts: This book is the start of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, probably my favorite middle grade series ever. It manages excitement, charm, and a nuanced attack on your heartstrings. What are you waiting for? Stop reading and go get you some Lightning Thief!
